Draft
Accessibility statement
Draft awaiting approval: this wording has not yet been approved by Gavriel and may change. The details in square brackets will be completed before the site goes live.
Gavriel wants everyone to be able to find information and receive service on equal terms, with dignity and independence, both on this site and at the complex. This statement describes what has been done on the site, the standard we aimed for, what is still limited and how to get in touch with us. It is provided under the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013.
The standard we aim for
Our target is Israeli Standard 5568, which is based on the WCAG 2.0 guidelines at level AA. In building the site we aimed for a more recent and stricter version of the guidelines, WCAG 2.2 at level AA.
This is a target, not a certification. The site has not been certified by an authorised body as meeting the standard, and this statement is not such a certification.
[details of the accessibility tests carried out: browsers, screen readers and date of testing - to be completed]
What has been done on the site
- Structure: headings in hierarchical order, defined page regions and a "Skip to main content" link at the start of every page. The page language and text direction are set for Hebrew, English and French.
- Keyboard: the site is built to be operated by keyboard alone, including the navigation menu, the galleries, the video player and the form, with a clear focus indicator. Pop-up dialogs close with the Esc key.
- Contrast and legibility: the text and background colours were chosen with the aim of meeting the level AA contrast ratios. The layout adapts to browser zoom and to different screen sizes.
- Text alternatives: the images on the site have a text description in each of the three languages, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers. The food menus are published as text on the page, not only as a file.
- Forms: every field has a label, and error messages appear as text beside the field and are announced to screen readers.
- Motion and sound: animations respect the "reduce motion" setting on your device. Background videos and rotating images have a stop button, and a video with sound starts only when you choose to play it.
- Accessibility menu: it opens from the "Accessibility menu" button at the bottom of every page and, on wide screens, from a fixed button in the corner of the screen as well. It offers larger text, high contrast, highlighted links and the option to stop animations, along with a reset. Your choices are saved on your device. The menu complements a site that was built to be accessible from the ground up; it is not a substitute for it.
Known limitations
- Some of the image descriptions may be inaccurate or not detailed enough.
- The videos on the site are shown without captions and without audio description.
- Files offered for download, should the site offer any, may not be fully accessible. The content of the menus appears as text on the menus page.
- External services and sites that the site links to, such as WhatsApp, Waze, Google Maps and articles on news sites, are outside our control and may not be fully accessible.
Have you run into a difficulty that is not listed here? Let us know. We will look into it and deal with it as soon as possible.
