Dor and Mor: a wedding planned around reserve duty, between the Bustan and the Shulhan

Dor was called up for reserve duty in the middle of the preparations, and Mor made quite a few decisions on her own. A chuppah at the Bustan, the meal at the Shulhan and one conclusion: it all works out in the end.

A look behind the scenes of Dor and Mor's wedding: their names may rhyme, but the road to their wedding was anything but a straight line. In this glimpse: real dilemmas (such as adding a dish to the menu), dealing with the unexpected (reserve duty) and one conclusion worth its weight in gold - talk to each other and respect each other, all the way to the chuppah.

From a dating app to the chuppah

Dor and Mor met through a dating app, and the proposal came on the Jaffa promenade, after a meal at a restaurant, to mark Mor's 31st birthday.

With the ring on her finger, the next step was to find the place where everyone they love would be invited. Mor says that when they first came to Gavriel, they were quite astonished. It was their first visit to the complex and they did not really know what to expect, but very soon the team's warm welcome, the beauty of the place, its aesthetic and above all the Bustan won them over. (Gavriel hosts events in three separate venues: Hangar, Shulhan and Bustan.)

The challenges along the way

Planning a wedding can be a demanding task, and in Dor and Mor's case it was a little more complicated still: Dor was unexpectedly called up for reserve duty. Mor found herself making quite a few decisions on her own, but thanks to the Gavriel team, who were kind, full of good advice and a pleasure to deal with throughout, it all came off.

Another good word for the team: Mor says it recommended the other suppliers they needed, such as a DJ, a photographer and event design, so there was no need to take chances or waste time searching. Every recommendation turned out to be a success.

The small details that made a big difference

What really made the difference for Dor and Mor was the combination of all these:

  • Between a clear pool and a white chuppah - Dor and Mor chose to hold the chuppah at the Bustan, where a garden of olive trees meets the water.
  • A chuppah on the water - as special as it gets.
  • Atmosphere - the Bustan at midday on a Friday has an atmosphere all its own.
  • Taste and scent - colourful flowers and delicious food.

A culinary concept

The chuppah was held at the Bustan and the seated meal at the Shulhan, a venue designed as a concept restaurant, with Chef Dudu. The couple said the food was excellent, as you would expect of a chef's restaurant that insists on quality ingredients and on building a personal menu.

Learning and growing as a couple

Planning the wedding taught Dor and Mor, above all, to talk and to communicate, to say what they want and to respect one another. And if you ask me, that is exactly the recipe for a healthy, nurturing relationship.

"A tip for the road?" I ask, and the answer comes: "Simply don't worry, don't get stressed and, of course, enjoy the wedding day as much as you can. It all works out in the end."

A winning formula

So what have we seen here? Dor and Mor's story shows that even under pressure (and reserve duty) there is plenty of room for communication and mutual respect and, alongside them, for a supportive team that goes above and beyond, with a smile and with love.

It does all work out. Many congratulations!
